My car doesn't want to go much faster than 100km/h... I was thinking maybe it is fitted with a diesel diff?! Engine still has plenty of rev's but it makes a weird noise and sticks just above 100km/h... is it possible a diesel diff would do this, anyone know how to tell diff's apart?! Hoping it is a diesel as it may explain why the car is so sluggish... It's not mega slow but sure it should be a lot peppier.

Tried different gears? Does it have a missfire? Sure the brakes aren't dragging? Oil levels correct - had a mate with a similar complaint and it was a diff seizing up, I doubt very much the diff ratio, if there is a difference, will affect the car that much - if it was too low the car would accelerate well and run out of rev's in top whereas if it was too tall for the engine then dropping down a gear would effectively lower the overall gearing.

I would say that it should be able to go faster with the diesel diff as they are ratio'd lower. If you want to tell them apart, check on OzGem, they have a diff guide somewhere. But this doesn't sound right...!

guts... was hoping it was somthing simple... may well have to get professional help (koz I love spending money grrrrrrr) It drives sweet as... brakes could well be suss but why would it go funny when it gets around 100km/h and be sweet as down low... one of the brakes was definetly seizing but seems ok now... Meh just keep driving... too much taxes and nuts to pay for next couple of months... gana be a lil lean in the wallet dept.

just noticed the "weird noise" bit - could be a broken baffle plate in the muffler clagging it up - can you disconnect the exhaust ahead of the muffler and take it for a spin? Up Albany Hill would be a good test.

brand new muffler plus sounds and feels like somewhere in drivetrain... it feels like its running out of legs... dont realy have much need to go 100km/h+ anyway I guess... mite see if mechanic mate from yesteryear will help... (havnt seen him socially in a long time, drives a much tasty RX2 coupe with a 13b Bridgeport...) He helped me out a bit when I was getting the wag on road. Or maybe I take a few people for a blast and see what opinions I get about it... real annoying when I've put so much new stuff and money into it... obviously didn't put enough new stuff or money into it!!

had a similar problem in my old sedan with g161 applied the more power rule and added g200w with shaved head, a gemini speedo looks out of place hard on the right hand pin, on another note go for a blat and feel the brakes after said blat ie hand on drum and see if any are hot , jack up and see how free your wheels spin after said drive

Perhaps it's the gear box? sounds more like an rpm thing. I doubt it's the brakes.

heat my friend rub your Mr Ding Dong for a while it will get bigger , hence tighter fit at a 100 if something is rubbing its rubbing twice as much as 50 and probably increasing the heat and friction exponentially

I reckon Zep nailed it... just gana roll it as is for now don't have any need to go past the 100km/h mark anyhow... will take a look if it A.) gets worse or B.) I get my red gem back on road... seeing it hasn't moved an inch since I stripped the interior that may be a while...
