I only condone the stripping of piazza's for parts if their rooted not in good condition I have a complete non turb G200z here loom n ecu all the bits to make it go. Really should get rid of it its just taking up space it would need a rebuild or at least new seals though it was sitting with no bonnet for 4 years when I got it. I got it started piece of piss though and warmed it up purred nicely car had no d-shaft and siezed brakes so couldnt drive it. You could just buy ninjas efi setup and find a g200 or maybe a g161 and chuck that on!!

your welcome to the efi- personally im keen to get a 161, find a 200 head to drop the compression a bit, then go turbo with a LINK ecu (i fell in love with link, ive workd on a few and theyre so EASY to use)

you were running a g161 carby engine w/ legnum turbo? sounds pretty sweet. what manifold were you using? custom jobby? got a 32/36 weber & buying 77vette's g161. did you get that that setup dynoed at all. just wondering how much hp it put out. g200 heads go on a g161 block?

i think people usualy put the g161(early higher comp version?) head onto g200s haha not the other way round
is there any difference between a latter model g161 head and a g200 head?
zeps turbo g161 goes pretty hard...altho once you do all the nuts he did it would prob be a similar price to fit an ecotec like brad did?
duno in the long run maybe its better to wack a more modern twin cam engine in.
i always thought a ca18det would be pretty cool and they are relativley cheap
also the sohc turbo piazza engine is not the same engine as the sohc non turbo g series donks

is there any difference between a latter model g161 head and a g200 head? Theres gotta be some differences... the G200 head has G200 cast into the front of it, if it were the same suely they would just use the od castings?! Dies are epicly expensive...

Yeah there are differences. They will give you a different comp ratio. G200 head on a G161 will lower the comp, but in reality, both the G200 and the G161 are good turbo comp ratios on their own if built well. Also, the other difference is that that water jackets don't line up properly, but this is never thought to be a problem.
I'm not sure if they have different ports/valves.
I think you could do a pretty cheap efi turbo setup on a G series if you are prepared to use a megasquirt and do the work yourself.

non turbo piazza is a g200 no? would be easy enough to throw a turbo on surely? or use the g200 block w/ 161 head and then turbo??? just wondering how much works involved & like 77vette said may be easier to chuck in an opel ecotec instead of all the Barry Whiteing around etc. or easier still an efi turbo'd g161 w/ intercooler??

My entire 4zc1 conversion cost me about $1400!! of course I did everything myself and managed to find some epic deals on some of the bits. I wana do a CA18det one day maybe if I sell my 4zc1 to fund it. I reckon that that carbi turb beast made around 100-120kw with the garret T2 that I put on latter on never got pics of that though.

G161 head on a g200 will raise the cr not ideal for turbo, G200 head on G161 will lower it. The valves in a g200 head are bigger aswell not sure on the ports do have both heads in the shed.

non turbo piazza is a g200 no? yeap, g200z is SOHC, g200w is DOHC and wont work with a g161 haha youve all repeted me alot =D makes me feel good- people agreeing with my ideas. arent CA18s usually SOHC? they were designed as lightweight engines... and their gearboxes (esp manuals) are quite rare? perhaps a custom bellhousing and a supra box... but thats geting pricey... to be honest i would rather a FJ than a CA, an SR if i could afford one.

been talking to the guy selling the piazza on trademe. hes willing to sell his parts car with g200 & box. relatively easy convo into chevette sedo? anyone turbo'd a g200 engine? what would be a reasonable price for a piazza in unknown condition. km's are in the high 200 thou's but is running apparently. obviously score a diff and brakes upgrade at the same time which is a definite bonus.

on a side note - what do you guys do about hatches diagonal shock setup. cut piazza ones & weld hatch ones on? or make new upright mounts (more expensive) for hatch. seen how that english fullah made his on that v8 rover convo. looks like a Barry Whiteing pain in the ass.
