anyone make it out to pukekohe on the weekend for the Thunder at the park? all went well and made it home with no damage ;D
first time back at puke with the new engine so all was a bit different, the suspension changes made a massive difference withthe car being quite enjoyable to drive now. The first race sunday morning was the best, still cool enough not to overheat the semis. started 5th and managed to pass 2 cars before being passed just before the line on the final lap. One of the changes we made to try to help the car turn in was drop the break away on the LSD down to 80 lbs but turned out to be the soft springs causing the problem so i was just spinning the inside wheel coming on and off the back straight big time, probably costing me a second a lap. Still happy as with the times, fastest in the morning race was an 1:11.20 and every other lap that race was withing a second. Gets up and goes off the line too with a 1:16 from a standing start, 4th gear wound out by the sweeper from the start line!

That sounds fantastic! So would I be right in saying that you should be at the pointy end once you have the suspension issues ironed out? No doubt as something gets sorted, something else will probably pop up but I shouldn't say that What class is it that you are in now? Is it still SS2000? Thats very good acceleration too, but then it is probably too be expected because the Honda S2000 is a bloody fast car and you must have a 300kg weight advantage over one of them! You should take it to meremere and do the 1/4 mile for a laugh.

My main disadvantage at the moment would be still running on DOT ratted tyres, most of the NA boys are on full slicks and you lose a couple of seconds a lap and probably more in the sun as by lap 5/6 the dots are too hot and all over the show. It looks to have the potential to be closer to the front than the back but there will always be at least a few that will be quicker. Yeah I guess Meremere could be interesting, no idea what it would do

I heard the update via Tony Dan, excellent results and sounds like our brake master cylinders are now on song Can't wait to see your thing on slicks should be able to keep some of those datsun boys honest.

Usually too soft on the front springs and/or ARB'll cause wheelspin, good thing it's sorted One of the VAG - I mean VASK guys was also down there getting his cherry popped but don't recall what he was running. TBH, not sure I'd like to get into more racing as I tend to worry too much about the other cars - dual sprints and the like are a hoot, though. What size tyres are you after - could do worse than try Davy's Tyres - behind Repco on Central Park Drive - mention my name and it may get a better price (or may be worse, hehe).

Yeah brakes are all good mate, to be honest it felt like i was driving a different car all around. i am hanging out for some slicks!! really want to run 250x15 all around...yeah boy, big fatties will have to get some mags made to suit so dont think it will happen before taupo. i think i may like it a bit harder in the front, i ended up running Tonys front springs as the ones i bought were wrong. Will have a think about it but may go 850's, really need to only change one thing at a time from here on so will set the brake away on the diff back to 100lb and see how things are then. Tony has ordered me a 4.8:1 diff so should be better suited to Taupo.

Yeah, someone should, at the least, get fired for that - Incredibly dangerous leaving an end-wall exposed like that and damned lucky the poor sod wasn't killed!

yeh aye.
It was his fault tho ;D
i just fly over the track and try race the cars.
most fun is 1000ft over meremere trying to hit the start of the quarter at the same time as the cars or racing super Gts down the back straight at puke.
come out of a dive at 140kts and i always beat the cars haha

I had heard in the early days that they were going to build it really safe in the hope to attract Moto GP and the likes so who knows what will happen there. From the sounds of it Hampton Downs are not part of an alliance that all the other tracks are in and so I have been told that SS2000 won’t be run there at all. haven’t seen the mini crash is it on the net somewhere?

Yeah here it is Dan... www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBHkNOnKxloTo be perfectly honest they were both at fault. The mini shouldn't have come across and the porsche guy could have lifted to avoid imminent contact. You're right though....there should never be a wall end somewhere.
