I'm toying with buying that aqua sedan on tardme putting some deep dish steelies like Mikuni's and maybe some springs / shocks all round. Mikuni, what size wheel and tyre combo did you go for? Where can I send some steels off to get modded and did you have to modify your guards at all to fit? The end goal is to fit the front assembly from the rally chevette into it and fit the 2300 plus ford 5 speed. I don't think I'll tackle that till the race car is done though

This sounds like an excellent idea. Go for it! You can get steels widened at Steelie Gears in Otahuhu. Ogre on oldschool can (or used to be able to) get pretty cheap centre-less rims too.

After my ownership Zane got it and it now has white wall flappers, and is lower also. My wheels are 13x8 and riding on 175/50/13s, though if doing it again I would probably try harder to find 14s

Is this going to be the new 'family car'? Good one saving it from the wrecker, BTW!

It's just gooing to be a car for me. The race car is now off the road and when my mrs has the challenger I can only take my motard. Which doesn't help if I need to carry nuts and generally sux my bits when it's raining.
Tony has offered to drop me down there but I'm questioning if it wouldn't be a better idea to take the train down? Has anyone tried the train trip to fielding? What about car transporters? Cost?

Bugger, bad timing, went down to Taupo yesterday and could have dropped you off if you'd succumbed earlier. Thing about the train is what happens if you have a problem witht he car? I reckon everyone should do the overlander, or whatever, at least once as it's a great way of seeing the country. I had a hatch picked up from Taraunga (sp??) a couple of years back and it was, IIRC, $220 point to point. If you're not in a hurry, you may get a good rate as part of a return trip.

paid aboot 4hundy for for black chevini to come to Nth Shore from Porirua. I didn't shop around for transporters tho and it wasn't a runner, not sure if that effected the price.... it was also about 2years or maybe a tad more ago...
