Don't even look at NAC. Its just a load of, as you say, bullnuts that has basically been put together to take advantage of the rediculous amount of money people modifying cars throw around, ie those that can't get it elsewhere.
I'd say you'd likely be better off with nothing than going with NAC anyway, as they often seem to find a loop hole when it comes time for them to pay out.
Anyway, there are beginning to be a few niche classic car insurers that are quite competitive. These people have jumped at people like us but for the right reasons. They realise that the average classic car owner doesn't drive there car all that often and when they do, they take extreme care with it.
Try Swan who is also a branch of AMI but a better bet I would think. Also classic cover here in Hamilton.
They will insurer your car for so cheap. It will be about $400 a year (probably less) for full cover. Its limited k's but the limit is quite high. You can also get a full cover for race cars (or track only cars like mine) where it will have full insurance for transportation and while in storage and thats only about $200 a year.
Look into it. I probably have the names wrong but just google them and then get quotes from both.

I nearly got NAC Insurance I just dont have any at the moment. Mrs hates my car so finding it hard to convince her it needs insuring lol. It was only $380 a year for me age and driving record are on my side there. Know at least 3 people who have claimed on NAC with no issues they fully inspected the cars though make sure all mods are stated correctly. Also know a person who never got his money because of loop holes front mount intercooler conversion on a subbie which he never told them about.

Keen to look into this as I currently have no insurance as no one will even touch me. Not even third party!!

^ thanks for another point of view on that Jase. I haven't looked into it now that I'm 25 and $380 sounds like a fair price for full cover.
Yeah leon, check them out. They weren't too worried about drivers history when I talked to them and they (classic cover) insure tanks turbo EX lancer, which is a crazy beast.
The other good thing about them is that it is agreed value, so you could insure your car for $8000 (assuming its value is somewhere around there), pay premiums on that, and actually get that back if the worst should happen.

Sweet, I will look into this. I don't drive my car thaaat much anyway.
Only issue I can see is that i'm not yet 25, which is why no one else will insure me. I've got no driving record or insurance claims to my name so hopefully this should work out!

Doesn't matter about not being 25, I looked into it when I wasn't and it was no issue. I think it might just make it fractionally cheaper when your older.

yeah you usually get it cheeper once you hit 25. you usually get it cheeper if you insure other stuff with the same company to but alas i am 18 and definatly not looking to buy a house any time soon.
interesting side note wich has very little relevance (but im too lazy to start a new thread). i read that the boyracers in chch are so bad because thers alot of white supremasist involvement haha. theyre the ones responsable for beating up cops and shooting them with airguns

There have always been idiots when it comes to transportation even romans had rules about chariots and horses etc because of idiots. It will never end and to be honest I love modified cars and the feeling I get when I drive mine I have done numerous skids in my time still do actually but I'm not an idiot so I'm not on the news. The media hype it up and the government act on what seems to be public opinion the main point the always miss is who's actually doing it. People who offend should not be able to drive nice fast modified cars its simple fining doesnt work losing your licence doesnt work p.d or cell time for driving a car you've lost the right to may. But this would cost the government so they wont do it and because they think what they are doing is what the public wants. Boyracers need good diplomats people of a mature attitude/age that dont wear their hats to the side with a hoodie over it because thats just what the public hate. Lets be honest how many people of the modern modified car scene make sure they catch the news every night not many. The news main audiance is a class of people who dont care about cars the way we all do and have no idea how to differ when they see a modified car an idiot from a genuine car inthusiest we're all the same to them.

Lol yeah I get a little wound up when it comes to poorly managed problems this goes for all things not just boyracer crap. I mean things like the anti smacking laws its the same scenario small group of the population are the problem but its eaisier to herd us all together maybe its to avoid discrimination issues who knows. Anyway thats my view of or wonderfull country lol ;D

lol i knew id start something. i can sence all the pent up rage over the topic =D
my two cents- STUPID MOVE crushing cars. the cars you are going to crush will ither be $200 pieces ov rust and they will just buy another one. or they will be rediculously expensive and driven by p-heads who DONT want their car crushed and who will therefore do everything they can to get away.. there has always been an illegal car scene- it used to be well organised and well away from public. e.g. meet up on a long wide straight road in an industrial zone somewhere at 2am. now its down main streets and wherever they happen to be at the time- fools.
a couple of side notes my boss used to race all the time and now she (yes i have a female boss) owns a 2008 wrx impreza and thrashs it everywhere she gos and noone looks twice =D
and LOL at that guy a while back who expandi-foamed peoples exhauses. and one was a cops car hahahaha. its idiots like THEM that the media is geting to

insurance is mean. Im with state. Insured my laser for 5500 that i payed 2600 for and got 5500 when it was written off hehe everybody wants to charge me millions in premiums tho on 250 a year for third party with state atm for my 205. 10 bucks a fortnight lol. Dont tell em about speeding fines. they put my excess up by about 600 bucks when i admited to having 4 speeding fines i think if you get insurance you should super hard try to get a policy that includes glass cover. windscreens crack all the time on my cars and its super hard and anoying and often expensive to replace youself
