Looking at getting some made for my chevini's from an Engineer mate... anyone already done and have pic's of a successful design? The one that Jase (mcqunt) did in my chevini wagz was in his previous opinion not 100% in alignment and broke a couple of gearboxes... correct me if I is wrong Jase... Just want some opinions and tips from anyone who has done this convo as I dont wanna shell out for 3 of them and find they are gbox wreckers! Also anyone else (cul8r) wanting one let me know and I'll talk to my mate about it. Will get him to hold all the measurements and templates too for future reference. Sick of the black chevini sitting there not being driven!

If you can get them to suit a twincam box, then dependant on price, put me down..

Same mounting points as normal gem boxes, so it will work sweet with a twinky box

Problem with these is that the chevette mounts are here.............................. and the Gemini mounts are .......................................... here...
So basically it makes things tricky to get sorted with a simple crossmember. Just under and have a look, you'll see what I mean.
I'm not much of a fabricator but logic suggests that there is no way of making a secure mount that only bolts onto the original chevette mounts - most would need to attach to the floor also, which begs the question, why not just go in the floor and cut the ugly chevette mounts of?

(note to self) BTW he reckons he can make all sorts of interesting nuts, surge tanks, drop tanks etc etc st-st sexyness... will ask more

I think what the idea is that you shoulld talk to a certifier when they are being made or when he comes to cert it he might find that it is not able to be done! And also, different people have different rules. When Jas did my diff, his cert guy said the mounting to the torque-tube x-member was sweet, but neil fraser made me reinforce the floor pan where it mounts through.

Each certifier is differant when it comes to fabricated mounts etc its pretty much up to what the guy thinks. If it looks well designed and the person who fabricated it has apropriate welding tickets they'll be all good. I widened my own wheels and all I had to do is show him my tickets.

hey tim ill def buy one off you if you get some made. Got cash in my wallet for you i was just guna weld a couple bits of steel flat or angle half box style onto the chev xmember going forward to the gem box holes with maybe another piece or two going sideways lol. Prob not certable etc. but thats how i've seen guys do it on rx7 auto to manual conversions(that are the same deal as this the manuals have crossmember in a differnt place to the autos). Thats what my old rx7(now rot808s) has and it gets wofs and it seems to do the job a o k ;D but yeh if you get some made up you can put me down for one ;D
