Pretty sure some of the 2.3 bearing sets were half grooved for exactly that reason - or I may be thinking of other engines ... Grooved in the con' rod big end cap and engine main's in the block, solid in con' rod body and engine main caps. It's been around for a long time as it works. In some extreme applications, they'll even use specially sized bearings with the 'solid' being a tighter clearance for load strength and the grooved larger clearance for increased oil flow for cooling. Got to be really serious for that, though! About the only time I had oil pressure problems was when the engine machinist wallies 'polished' the crank to the point where it had 4+ thou clearance. It was picked up on my pre build check but they were positive it wouldn't be a problem - they were wrong! Re the starter, FF, with the Beddies, we'd even run very heavy cables to power the starter and for engine-battery grounds - didn't help that much. Making sure the bearings are well greased/oiled and the commutator and brushes are clean did help a little. You could go to 24V starting if it's a real problem or modify a starter from another vehicle - IIRC, this was quite commonly done for rally cars but damned if I can recall what was used.

I'm actually not sure what it's running. It starts a treat tho. oh and that av gas smell Let me know if you run into problems as I have 5 oil pumps all ranging from brand new to second hand. if you got all my old bits I seem to remember there being 3 odd oil pumps in there too.
