so things have not gone to plan as always, car is now on hold while im in palmy studying for two years, sucks to have to do it but i need money to live as a student at the moment and a bit hard to work on it when the car is in nelson haha. so car is pushed to back of shed with all the parts crammed inside it, now its sitting there collecting dust. but here is little progress of where i got upto before it was put away. Headers and exhaust all finished up. custom headers 4-1 2.5inch mandrel bend exhaust system coby resonator flow master muffler and exits the car in straight 2.5inch, im not a fan of big bores pedal box tacked into place, waiting till i get seats before deciding on final position. cars rear wiring loom all rewired. and this is what the engine bay looks like now, all strengthened and filled.

cheers, If you look back a few pages you will see what i done, but basically double skinned the front strut towers, strengthened front chassis rails as per sports part manual

What's this sports manual? DTV (Dealer Team Vauxhall) and Magard (a British tuning specialist) produced a guide to modifying Chevettes for rallying, it included details for plating the front damper mounts and re-inforcing where the front chassis legs joined the main structure of the car, IIRC, it also gave places where stich welding would be useful to strengthen the body shell. it wasn't felt to be needed for road conversions - the Chevette has a pretty strong shell - but more for hard rallying on rough roads and where yumps were expected. Doesn't hurt to do it while the engine, etc, is out, though, especially as they'll be getting tired.
