Oi, I'm getting my ecotec today!!!!! haha f**k yeah!! FUK! Had a weird day. Decided to not go up in the car I had planned to, as she had to stop at the airport and I couldn't be fukt waiting. So... I caught a ride with my mate on his Yami 250 Why, I have no idea fuk it was a long trip being pillion passenger on a 250! Was pretty fun tho. Anyway, got there.. filled the box with fluid, decided it would probably be sweet and we were on our way. Go to mercer and decided to check it to make sure there was still some oil in there. Seems to be leaking, so I go buy another litre and chuck that in. Now the engine won't start. Fuken new cars, because the box was low on fluid it won't start the engine as a safety measure. I decide to put another litre in, but as I'm beginning this I realise that there is a huge puddle of oil around under the engine bay and that the previous litre of fluid went straight out the bottom of the gearbox that is now broken in half! I'm beginning to rethink the reliabilty of these euro engines. I've NEVER seen a gearbox housing snap in half from literally nothing, with that little amount of power going through it. I hadn't even put my foot half down the whole trip End result, I didn't want to bother any of my friends to drive all the way there to try tow me so I got a tow truck. $240 later, ouch.

Damn that sucks man. Maybe you just got a dud? Reckon you can score a new box for it with out too much harm? I'd hate to see you lose sight of this project, it's gonna be awesome.

Yeah, I obviously didn't need the box anyway because I need a rwd one (hopefully a vn one will work) its just that I would have liked it to be drivable. I might look into pricing of a new fwd box anyway, just to see if its worth it. The only reason I'll loose sight of the project will be funding, which is taking a beating at the moment!! Cheers for the encouragement

Pillerless, twin turbo on a 4 cyl and the style is just absolutely not my cup of tea, to put it nicely. You'll see what I mean if you have a look at the car in more detail. Typical aus mods, but ohwell.. still a nice change to seeing the typical newer cars in all the mags aye.

Agreed, its not just pillarless but its also windowless! Not a fan of the wheels or colour either, and the interrior wasn't the best haha, not alot going for it in my eyes. Escorta from oldschool btw

Yeah, well.. as I spammed on oldschool I saw the meanist grey/cream/beige (something who knows) chevette hatch. Was awesome, lowered slightly on whitewalls. Would have been keen for a yarn but he was heading the other way and anyway, it seems most chevette or even gemi sedan owners don't really get into the wagons so meh. I see that all the time, the whitewalls are painted on rough as Parks on the road near my olds place. Only other gem I see on a regular basis is the mint as orange sedan round hamilton, old guy with a hat drives it, think I know where he lives too. Found a green pf50 coupe too, going to approach the owner sometime soon and see if he wants to sell. Also found a blue chevette sedan behind the rotorua airport, looked like it had been parked up for a bit. Think thats about it for my contribution

Took the long route on a work mission today to have a look at the gem that seems to always disappear at lunchtimes...
Found the green gem coupe, its stock as, sheepskin seat covers, hubcaps, drivers side looks mint from a distance but the passenger side has primer on the bottom front of the door and a sizeable dent at the back of the door, not as mint as I had thought/hoped. Rats.

Who cares if its mint. Crap is good cos it meens you wont be afraid to do crazy mods (massive engine convo etc) You wont be afraid to ruin it cos it is already nuts. This will produce an awesomer car in the long run or maybe not
