This is Track 2 and is on April 21st.
I had an idea today too zep, when I saw you asking if anyone else knows of any old cars. After the talk of SS2000 on here I have been researching the series and joined up to the SS2000 forum.
Today I put up a thread about the oldschool trackday, inviting older race cars from SS2000 to come along. Partly to showcase the series and possibly get more people involved, but also so we can see some cool old race cars! Not sure how it will go down there and if anyone will be keen but worth a try I thought.

I just hope the proper race car guys don't give us nuts for our pretty relaxed style of track event.

I did think of that issue but I mentioned it was a low key fun event and the nature of SS2000 seems to be of a similar attitute on the most part.
The biggest factor will be the one that I'm sure you are aware of anyway, just the fact that on Track 2 we will need to be driving, not sliding.

Oh yeah of course, but that's the same for every track day.
What is SS2000?

Others on here that race in it can explain it better but it seems to be an entry level racing series with quite open rules that try to keep everything even amongst the various classes. Basically you need a MSNZ licence and a car with a homologated cage that complies with the SS2000 and schedule A regulations, which are quite open. There are afew clases like 1300-1600, 1601-2000, Rotary, and Open which is pretty much turbo/4x4 etc. There are also weight restrictions on each class with the smaller na 8v cars being able to weigh as little as 520kg's, with cars like XE chevettes being 900kg's minimum right through to the open class which is up to 1120kg's. Rotary cars can't be turbo and there is also a Honda open class which has a slightly different arrangement of rules to keep things close. Thats just off the top of my head so check www.ss2000.co.nz for more details etc. The reason why it appeals to me, among other things, is the types of cars that race. Tony Lynch has his HSR replica in there, Dannyboy has his HS replica and thats the class that bulldog is now building his car to with the XE engine. I think that gemini/kadett c replica off trademe was being built for that class also. Other than that everything seems competitive with a ke25, a datto 1200 coupe and all sorts of other cool stuff. I don't have the skills, courage or funding to ever enter my car but oneday I hope to race in a series like that, and I can imagine that alot of other oldschoolers would be in the same boat.

Gutted, no takers on the ss2000 forum I hope some of the other guys manage to get targa cars there or something. Would be cool to see some decent race cars at one of our events.

I was there from about 10:30 till 12. Was far too wet to hang around.
The Ferrari was such a banger, and the DeTomaso Pantera (my fav car there).
Always heaps of Fiats too. I don't reckon the turn out was as good as previous years. Did you see that Camaro hit the curb then prang into the pole?

OS track day is again my build deadline except i think this year I'm going to make it and i mean that by i'm going to make it next year lol, and then isn't beachhop just around the corner, I'm even making progress on the ute to tow the gemi down, trailer sailer styles, I don't want to think how much there is to do but ticking jobs off every other day and spending the coin to buy the right parts first off ;D, would be epic to see a large t car contingent over shadow the high toyota presence that has been prominent over the last few trackdays that i missed and put my car back next too brads to one who's is prettiest, two whose makes the right noises and three who can break there diff first on the track, hence the trailer
