Ive done what your talking about to my engine bay everything is either cleaned completely to look new or painted in Chevy blue. I'm moving my battery to the boot and have made aluminium checkerplate covers for both sides. For my fuse box and washer bottle I made a new aluminium tank and the fuse box mounts on the side of that all covered by a checkerplate lid its not finished but still looks good. I also put all the wiring behind the gaurds. I had to strip my booster down and put a new spring in it after it had been sitting but it had got water in it so thats probably why. As for the master cylinder if its been sitting dry the seals are probably hadit and the bore might be rusty . If its still got fluid in it it might be ok. I started to pollish my master cylinder then I decided to go with a Falcon one

Oh I see well I did that to start with but I did'nt like the finish. I spose i still looks better than not at all though. My car/s are nothing special at all quite rough really just like clean engine bays. I clean all my engines like once a month even the Mrs 323 thats more often than she washes the outside. ;D

Her 323 is quite unusual sort of its a 94 hatch with a ever powerfull 1300cc sohc single point injected engine and a snappy 4spd gearbox. Thing would run a fart I reckon it gets 190ks to 10L. So guttless and no torque I stall it heaps when I drive it. Its tidy as though has nice mags to its cumfy and it has power steering and aircon.

They 'should' be OK, but if they're out of the vehicle, it's a good oppertunity to rebuild the master cylinder anyway. May catch a fault before it becomes a problem.

Nope, nowhere near big enough - I've had problems with a modded 1256. If you're VERY carefull, you can use a hand or air (NOT electric) drill to make a larger hole in the tank to match your new pickup. Give it a bloody good clean out before hand - explosions are NOT fun! You can then solder in a new, larger fuel pickup which is directed to the rear of the sump in the tank - IIRC, I used 3/8" (10mm) bundy tubing. Using a swirl tank with a primer pump may be a good idea to ensure a stable fuel supply to the main pump, the return from it can be plumbed to the old pickup. Alternatively, just use a pump and filter.

fun n games at least theres people with answers (detailed 1s too!) cheers gordo! when u said pump and filter do u mean an electric pump secondary to the mechanical one or does the outlet need enlarging regardless?

If the engine is basically stock internally and it's just the side suckers, you should be OK as it won't be using that much more fuel. However, if you've uprated the internals so it's producing significantly more power, I'd expect the fuel demands to need an upgrade to an electric pump - NOTE, carburettor and FI pumps are different. Depending on what you intend to use the car for, you'll probably be OK with the larger fuel pipe, filter, pump etc. However, if you're doing a lot of hard cornering/swerving, you may need a swirl pot and priming pump to ensure you have consistent fuel pressure/supply. If money's tight - and isn't it always - I'd go for the former - if you've a decent budget, I'd go for the latter - looks trick, anyway
