just been reading and alot of the problems are with the fitment of the motor as knowone does a conversion kit for it so i myt pass as their is a conversion kit for a v6 and i dont have to go chopping anything and it is only costing me $100 for a fully running v6 manual commy.

check out my build thread dude. make sure you have a pre-Ecotech motor and you will have less issues as it is a 90 Degree v6, so sits lower. you will need to reverse the sump, and/or modify the crossmember. you can buy a wiring kit from aussie, but I did my own. Engine mounts can also be bought from aussie - I think Castlemaine Rod Shop and V6conversions.com.au sell them you can run either an external or internal/in-tank EFI pump. it's questionable as to whether the diff will handle the torque for too long... I'm running a shortened commodore diff in my chevette and it gives me rear disc brakes too! I'm pretty sure on the gem the brake master cylinder will need to be relocated too, to clear the RH cylinder head. Holden clutch cable pretty much fits straight in It's not quite a straightforward swap, but it can be done with a bit of patience

yea the motor i can get my hands on is from a 1990 commodore wagon so pritty sure its pre ecotech and yea the conversion kit i have been looking at is from the castlemaine rod shop and they sell the nuts for the sump and crossmember now to if i remeber correctly so with a bit of money i can just buy the whole conversion kit from aussie.
