Thank ya You've GOT to get a manual - selling for a few bucks on Trademe. Head torque 55lbs.ft - do it in 10 lb.ft steps in spiral pattern from centre. Valve clearance 8 thou hot and running - BS, in my opinion, just set them hot. If you can, use a couple of dowels in the end bolt holes - you'll notice that two of the head and gasket holes are slightly smaller, using a long dowel to locate the head, and more importantly, the gasket, will ensure it's correctly positioned and avoid the risk of a blown gasket .

Yeah I will buy a manual, its just that I don't have enough time. Want to put head back on tomorrow. Cheers heaps for that, very helpful. Yeah, I wasn't sure about the running thing, sounds abit weird as they shouldn't go any further than when the engine is off. Good advice on the dowel too, I'll be sure to do that if I can find a long enough bolt of something.

If you've a "spare" engine, you could do what I did - cut the head off a couple of long head bolts and slot them with a hacksaw so they can be fitted/removed with a screwdriver.
