my gem engine seems to go straight in2 my chevette, all iv done is sat the block on the mounts and seemd mint. the engine came witha parts car only one engine mount was hookd on koz the sump fouls on the sway bar bkoz tha std chuvit swaybar runs straight across, my chevtte which im building (i hav 3, 1 project and 2 parts) hasa afta market swaybar which bends down abit and clears the gemi engine. the gearbox mount will be diff 2 but havnt got that far along yet, will maori it 2getha when i gt 2 it. from what iv heard if you dont upgrade the diff the ratios are all whack and u wnt get helluva lot more power but again my car has what i think is a pizza diff innit so i shud be all gd. im nt as technical as the other dudes whov replied but will letcha knw about any problems i encounter as i go- car needs to be finishd in 3 ana half wks!!! funniest thing its practically a shell! cutting it close (as alwaze)

Swapped the Gemini Diff into the chevette, and yes it does bolt straight in, they definitly seem alot stronger, I think they are a borg Warner item, similar to 4cyl Torana's/Commodores. Brakes are bigger. Only thing I had to swap between the two, was the connection for the brake lines, swapped it with the chevettes one, because the gemini is the "female" connection end , where as the chevette has a "male" end - If I didnt swap the ends would've been the same..

Yeap, the diff mounts should be all the same? Have you bolted up the shocks yet? Thats the only possible issue I think. The wagon and hatch shock mounting points are the same between brands (angled) and the coupe and sedan shock mounting points are the same respectively (vertical).
Does that make any sense? lol

Yea, Havent bolted up the shocks, ran out of time (not really, got distracted thrashing another car..) But yes they certainly look the same, and the wagon definitly had Angled shock mounts.
Cheers,Chris
I had two people helping me, even though they didnt help much, if you knew what you were doing it'd take less than a day to completely swap them over. Hmm, just a thought, maybe the shock mounts are the same for "both" variants of the gemini, just they are angled inwards at the top???

Yeap, this is true, its just that because of the angled nature of the shocks the panhard rod pin is relocated on diffs that have angled shocks. Thats all. If you try to angle mount shocks on a diff that requires them to be straight up and down the panhard rod will be in the way.
