You bastard for not saying anything! tell me all, show me pictures.. things! How much did your Vectra cost? Or was it that calibra? Well, if you want a quick run down on what I've got - note, still under construction etc - IE mostly still in storage C20XE with SBD 208hp throttle body kit, big wing alloy sump, lightened flywheel with Kevlar clutch disc Chevette radiator modified with 3 core HD matrix and altered outlets. Ford T9 gearbox (currently stock internals) with Quaife quick change and centre mount slave cylinder Piazza turbo diff' - the good one with vented discs, LSD and four link Vented fronts with four spots Adjustable pedal box Quick rack BMW 3 series alloys 6x14 with 195/60s To go into an almost perfect hatch shell which I'll be keeping pretty stock as I like the 'sleeper' concept and it helps avoid the wrong sort of attention. I was seriously into club (and a little National) level motorsport back in the day with a stock/mild 1256 and am looking to get back into it - should also make a nice road car. The 'spare engine' was a '90 Calibra manual on Trademe that the owner was having problems with and I think I have it sussed as a dud HT lead and faulty fuel pump relay. It's pretty rough but even with those costs and a replacement stereo/speakers it's still under 2 grand all up. That's less than what a friend paid for his Chevette on trademe . It's also getting better fuel economy than any of my Chevettes have ever done. Got some replacement shocks on order so it should be sweet for a few years to come.

That sounds awesome dude, throw up a project thread with pics and stuff, I'd be keen to see what it looks like - and I'm sure others would too.
Where did you get the quick rack kit from? What are the front brakes?

What are the front brakes? Don't have a camera, sorry. The rack I got from DemonTweeks a while back - great for around town, BTW. Some links you may find useful www.sbdev.co.uk/Main.htmwww.tjmotorsport.co.uk - Tim has sourced some more racks, see link below www.chevettes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11716 - see his later posts in the thread for related stuff. Also www.chevettes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11841Heck, just check this site out - if you haven't already www.chevettes.com/forum/This one is a bit slow - been waiting a couple of months for the membership to be activated but some good stuff if you go back a bit www.chevetteownersgroup.co.uk/A rally rebuild - if I've the correct one www.chevetterallycar.bravehost.com/This one seems to be a little dead www.droopsnootgroup.org.uk/These guys used to do a lot of Chevette stuff but not much now - may be worth checking out, though www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/These guys are transmission specialists but they do other work as well - mostly Fords www.quaife.co.uk/[edit] Fronts were a kit using Wilwoods with 256x22, I think, disks from a Vectra. There was also a 288mm kit available. As a cheaper alternative, apparently the stock 1600 Isuzu Gemini vented hub/brake assembly is a direct swap with the Chevette and fits under the 13" wheels - have to check that though with the set in the garage. [edit2] If you just need a mild brake upgrade, using semi-metallics is a good move - I've run them to red hot without problems - 'cept for the nuts build up on the pads catching fire if they hadn't been heated for a while. Those of you who've done a fast run down the southern side of the Rimutakas'll know what I mean.

You may be thinking of the wrong one, this was 3 or 4 months back and didn't reach the reserve - I got it when it was offered at a lower sale price - I paid a grand Still got to get the A/C fixed though I've asked the XE guy in the earlier post to re-list the car as I'm still interested in some other parts - if I have any money left, of course! [edit] May be the same car - I paid a deposit when I viewed it and when I picked it up, he said that two others had wanted to buy it but, as he already had a deposit ... ;D

0 So how many are there in NZ? I saw a white one when they were new in the 80's (S%#t i'm old) in Drury, south Aucks, pretty sure its not the same one as in the auction above cause it didn't have those ugly import mirrors on the front guards. If you go to the above auction's "sellers other listings" and look at thier Opel Manta GSI. Check out the photo's and see what's in the background. I think there may have only been 1 or 2 brought in when they were new, but I'd guess there's been a few come over as oldre Jap imports. Cheers Tedz.

I was one of the other guys but when you looked at it and gave him the deposit, I sold my gemini that day and rang the next day saying I'll take the calibra and he said I couldn't have it because a deposit was put down and the dude was picking it up in 2 weeks. Funny how things work out. ps I hate you! I rang about the XE engine in earlier posts and the guy said he's now keeping the engine as a spare for his other car and only selling the body.

That's a bit of a bugger, you may also consider importing an engine - mine was around NZ$ 700 shipped "on consignment" inc' insurance and GST. Just got to source one. The guys here often have cheap gear, no doubt there are similar Vectra etc clubs you may wish to check up on. www.clubcalibra.com/index.phpCan you give me his number, if it's not to much hassle? There're a few bits I'm still after for the Calibra, like the front seats. BTW, 77vette picked up the rims yesterday morning and can tell you how rough the Cally actually is. He also said you may be interested in a HS front spoiler I want to get ride off.
