Im running a 24mm sway bar up front and nothing at the rear (for now).
For springs: The Kings I have are 300lb at the front and 175-225lb progressive at the rear. Now these are a tad too soft so I'm looking at maybe 350lb in the front and 225-275 in the rear... sound ok anyone?

The rally Chevettes used 350lb front springs for tarmac and gravel, I recall some circuit cars used 700lb fronts but can't recall what was on the rear - may be largely a preference thing - don't know if that helps. [edit] Found mention of standard Chevette springs for tarmac and gravel with original diff' and 190lb springs for a four link and/or heavier diff. Getting the right installed height is the trick. You can still get SPAX and some other brands - even adjustable, short dampers (shocks) for lowering by significant amounts. Are you looking at club racing or drifting? The latter will probably use much harder springs to promote oversteer. Got some more info' somewhere - in the meantime, you may also want to check the links here nzgem.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1174285724

I doubt I'll be looking to do drifting. I'm getting some adjustable GAZ shocks all around, they will be manufactured to the correct height so that's not a problem.
350lb sounds good, is the fact that I have a hilux diff (which is heavier than the stock gemini diff) going to make a difference to the rear?

The 'standard' four link dif' for the rally car, back in the day, was the Mk2 Jaguar which used the 4HA centre - as you can imagine this was also rather heavy - and they were using 190 lb rears, possibly a bit soft for better traction out of corners. Your weight balance front to rear will be a little different but that should give you an idea. I suspect a little harder on the rear but that's something you'll nead to experiment with - just as you'll need to experiment with a rear anti-roll bar. Some may prefer none, some the stock bar and some may consider the Piazza one. Have you replaced the stock bushes yet?

Yup all the bushes are being replaced. I'll need to buy a rear sway-bar kit at some time too, my gem dosen't have one as stock.
Hopefully I won't need to get too many rear springs made! I'll talk to Snells about this too

Zep, how much are the GAZ shocks costing you and do I understand correctly that are you having your springs custom-made locally (if so where, could help with the lowering of my Chevette if I can do the same)?
I had GAZ fully-adjustable (height as well on the front) on my 205 for a while, can't say I was that impressed, but that doesn't mean other shocks in their range aren't good.

GAZ shocks will cost me about $600 NZD + shipping and yeah I'm getting the springs custom made as Snells Springs in Penrose.

I haven't had a hatch yet. Thats if the 2 door sedan I'm trying to suss at the moment falls through. That will be mine forever if I can get hold of it I think. I'll just give up on normal cars haha
