I've been building and messing with so many old cars the past 5 + years that I think I'm spent. I got this 1800 magnum home ready to strip the firenza and transfer the running gear and upon starting it I realized I have little to no enthusiasm left for messing with old cars anymore. I'm seriously considering selling up and buying a newish jappa (rx7,rx8, evo) or the likes as a track day play car and general cruise mobile.
I could walk away for several months and come back to it. I think I over did it building two race cars and several chevettes. I just feel like getting into a new modern car that's crazy fast, handles well and I don't have to do anything other than buy an ECU or bigger turbo or select a new alloy wheel......I've lost it I tell you!
Think I might put the Firenza in storage but I'm seriously considering selling the chevette race car.

I nearly went that way with the chevette and wagon, getting frustrated on small things, sort them and its all coming along much better worth the effort. I think so anyway

think ill 'sleep' on it for a week or so. Another option I was thinking about was repowering the chevette....1uz or 13b turbs....something to give me crazy power in a chevette....none of this 170-180 stuff

We've all been there - the nutsty weather doesn't help! When the weather clears up, and you start suffering from 'cabin fever' I expect you'll change your mind
Could be like poor old Esprit over on Eurosport, with his car!

You think that buying a modern car will make it easier - I doubt it. While it means availability of parts, they are heavier, there are a million parts to take out, power steering, abs, air conditioners, all that jazz, and anything custom seems to cost a butt-load more.

Or just not 'crazy' fast enough? I suppose though it should fetch a decent price if sold and done mostly yourself and at mates rates you may not come out so bad.... HS being a piece of racing history blah blah... it is a genuine one isnt it?

Dude I'm there aye. Hit a wicked brick wall and still haven't come off it, so decided to try and take a step back and focus on what I really want to be doing.
A good motorvator is a cool event, like oldschool nationals this weekend. That would surely renew your enthusiasm for old crap, but I doubt you'll be able to make it. IRC or even just a trackday would also be good I think, just to get out and see some cool cars doing what they were built for.
I say just take a week or perhaps a month to sit back and have a good think about what you really want from a car and make sure you're building what is right for you.

I think I need to take it out in anger again. I'm gutted I didn't enter this weekends NZrally support event.

Drive up to Tony's this eve and take me for a blat before you get rid of it. I'll even taunt you about your parents/repeatedly punch you in the face if you wanna make it angry.
But yeah, what is happening is understandable. Brad's got it, I've had it many times before. Heck, I don't barely even drive my car, why the Barry White do I keep throwing money at it?!
