Oh god that A pillar rust scares me! That looks pretty bad. You have a buddy that can panel? That makes me want to pull the guards off of mine to have a look and make sure its alright. Looks pretty tidy over all though. Glad to see another chevette on the forum

when I took the guard off there was so much mud and stones and nuts in there it was incredible...
I have a mate who welds so hopefully we can sort it out, I figure the repair doesn't need to be too pretty given that it's under the guard, just needs to be effective

Whats the Battery Tray, Water Washer Bottle Tray area like? (if they have rust, then check the floors in the footwell, may need to lift carpet or look from underneath) Also check the boot floor, near the joins...
You manage to get some new or good condition panels (the white ones?)
Cheers,Chris

Had a look under the battery tray and those other areas yesterday and they are all sweet, which makes the A pillar area even more annoying. The guard had an aerial hole that was covered by tape, I imagine plenty of water got in through the hole then had no way of getting out I got the car of a guy on oldschool who used it as a parts car and he took some of the orange panels and gave me the white ones. The bonnet and boot are fine, the guard has had an ugly repair job on it so I'll either redo the repair job or look for a new guard. The driver's door is a gold/green colour so in general the car look a bit fugly at the moment My olds love it being stored at their house... edit: here's the car's better half www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=11340

yeah wasn't this the one that was on there for $1 reserve with no springs and massive chromes or was that a different one?
lucky the rest of it seems alright. should be able to smack a patch in that section pretty easily aye.
Oh, I might know of some guards too possibly. There are afew chevettes around though so let me know if you can't find any and see what I can do.

Got another chevette on the weekend, also a 78 hatch. Was looking for a parts car for my orange one, but this new turquoise one is too nice so I think it may become the main, with the orange one providing a few parts. The only slightly annoying thing about the turquoise one is that the rego has lapsed. Also it has a after-market non-monster tacho and oil pressure gauge
