Have you checked for any "slop" in the dizzy or the rotor itself? Seems funny that you can just set the timing and its done.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr Barry Whiteen Gemmi... still at Carb Specs, good dude right there... hopefully I still think that after I get the bill... He is playing chase the fault thru my electrical system... Coil was shot so he has installed a Bosch GT40 coil. Then they had it running betterer and it ran outta gas ... fortunately I had popped in and went and got a jerry can full... then it lost spark so he has ordered a new dizzy cap and will continue tomorrow.
The real buggar is that my Mrs is driving me around with two kids as if I take her car and mine is ready I will have 2 cars to get home... so I go clean for a couple of hours and she picks me up and moves my gear to the next site... very boring for her and the girls.
Hopeful I will have it back tomorrow better than any gem I ever owned! ;D

Got it back today... feels goodah havin it all legit and running... to be honest I think I remmeber G161's being much sweeter... but it will suit the purpose and should give many years of trouble free motoring.... Done 205km on new engine now, ship it out to Waiheke Island for work on the 27th... gotta sort a couple of wee issues... think one of the rear brake cylinders is Barry Whiteed... and the rear bushes need lubing... squaky as Barry White back there... Also the rims scraping on full lock is a pain... need to weld some blocks onto the front x member where the hub contacts when the wheel. Think that will be about it, running sweet now...
