Got it in from the states for about $100NZD incl shipping, just off ebay. Kind of keen but unsure of wheel value and how much you're prepared to pay. Wheels alone maybe $300? Plus they have brand new tyre's all round.
Saw your Shuvit earlier (was with my mate in his Viva Estate). Wasn't too sure which one you were though haha there's so many different faces.
Tai.

Nice. I'll be heading to Leadfoot in the Chevette, leaving from West Auckland if you wanna get a convoy going:)

What day time etc is everybody cruising? If I can get blue vette wag fixed beforehand aninja may be driving it (assuming he is ok to pay the gas bill and is still keen) I'm broke as so will be driving my economiser freshly painted (it so better be fukn finished by then) uberclean wag of doom/awesomeness. Would be sweet for blue wag to make it there too... be fun on his driveway, also extra vette for the convoy : )

Been loving cruising the nuts out of this over the last week however still having slight bogging issues (new cap and rotor certainly helped). Also found out I can't shift into reverse unless I start it in reverse so that's a pain in the ass. Have been told that it may be corrosion build up on the input shaft causing it to 'catch' onto the friction plate? Otherwise maybe a gearbox issue Got the suspension all sorted now and have also found some Nolathane numbers for all the control arm bushes so will be looking at reco'ing all of that sometime this summer and gonna look at sorting an adjustable panhard rod. How easy would it be to adapt a Gemini panhard rod to a Shuvit because I could probably sus an adjustable one through work for pretty cheap. And the front lip is now mounted up, needs to be about 10mm closer to the drivers side but it's close enough for me to not fuss about hahahha ;D. Definitely going to be turbocharging this now but not til I get back from Thailand. Looking at running either a 28/36 Weber or a 32DGV in a completely boxed enclosure with a little FC RX7 intercooler mounted infront of the radiator painted black and hidden. Trying to keep all the piping to a minimum hooked up to a little tc04 Mitsubishi turbo (may look at a Starlet GT turbo aswell) to a 2" straight through exhaust and need to make an oil return to the sump. Will be getting all the flanges water cut and welding everything up myself. Should be a pretty straightforward job but I have next to no welding experience so will be good to learn under the supervision of my mate Tony. Reckon it will cost me in total somewhere between $500-$1000 so will be cost effective to get a little boost out of the 1256 haha. Peace Tai

How easy would it be to adapt a Gemini panhard rod to a Shuvit because I could probably sus an adjustable one through work for pretty cheap. I used all the Nolathane bushes from a Gemini in the front of my old Chevette and they worked fine. If you can find a Gemini wagon panhard rod it should bolt straight in, but the Chevette hatches and wagons use a different lower shock mount on the diff which means the panhard rod mount on the diff is closer to the centre resulting in a shorter panhard rod. I just got a normal Gemini sedan (same as Commodore) Whiteline one and had it shortened for a box of beer (was before I had my own welder).

Look very cool by the way. I like it exactly as it is, definitely don't add roof racks! I think with any more accessories it will look cluttered.

Boring update... Not much has been happening with this heap. Drove it quite a bit then developed an exhaust leak and the cabin was filling up with fumes. Left it for a while then when I got back from holiday I tried to sort the leak. The exhaust flange gasket was at fault and a tried to get the thing apart and swap it over, 30year old car = ceased bolts and didnt want to strip so need someone to heat it up. Everywhere was booked out to Xmas and/or closed over the period + had been working a nutsload of extra hours so pretty much forgot about it until the other day. Going in to get it sorted tomorrow and getting the exhaust cut and raised so I can slam it moar. Also fuel gauge stopped working and water gauge stopped working. Installed a cheapy nutsty temp gauge and the sender was faulty so just got a new temp sender and the original is sweet now however she's running a little hot so will test out the thermostat as I think its starting to nuts itself. Also fitted the 2" Tacho I brought off Damien a while back but it's shanked so thats pretty lame. Ah well. Got a sweet picture tonday though tape for lols (yea I follow trends) Cheers Tai

Old post I forgot to put up on this forum .... Due to getting the rear windows refitted so they're fixed, I decided to tidy up the general framing around the window. Sanded and treated all the surface rust, filled the hinge holes and painted it up. Also had trimmed back the hood-lining an re stuck it to the ceiling. Hopefully the guy can come fit the windows tomorrow. Prepping Primed up Boom Can get some pictures of the fitted sealed window if you guys are interested? Cheers Tai

Different from the Viva* - the Viva has the heater hose off the water pump and the Chevette has it off the bottom hose - I've a good Chevette one, if you're interested?
*Maybe not the 1256 version, but the others are, for sure as I've also got a NOS Viva one somewhere.

Yea well was looking in the Mackay book at work and the image for the listed bottom rad hose looked very similar to the shuvit one and had the heater hose outlet. Was a pretty poor image though. Definitely could be keen on the hose Gordo. Will try Tony first but if he doesn't i'll happily grab it off you.
Cheers

might be the other way round, but I definitely remember a pinhole leak from the heater hose takeoff on the bottomn hose on an early Chevette. Had a look, while getting the lawnmower out, and I've a very good used one and a new one - both with the heater takeoff on them.
