Mmmmm! I think I speak for us all when I say - very envious! Some very nice work gone into your beastie! Some details I'm curious about - Engine and transmission? Diff' - Ford 'english', Isuzu or ...? Nice Watts linkage, BTW - height adjustable? What are you using for the front discs? Rear disc setup? BTW, I've seen several other 'vettes have used the front calipers on the rear, simple way for getting rid of the sliding caliper you've got as you don't need a handbrake. [edit] Do you have a tie in with these guys? Would explain a lot www.hogarthracing.com/

That is a very cool little hatch man. I like the total package you have going there.
Rear end setup looks good. What diff are you using? Also engine and trans details as gordo mentioned above please.
And where are ya? Down south I imagine.

Awesome car mate. Definately looks like a bit of fun! I am very curious about your front lower arms, can you tell me a bit more about them? I assume they have been modified to suit you brake/hub setup, but have they also been modified to accomodate more suspension travel?
I have just put the motor into my car and as I suspected only have about 50mm travel before contact with no bumpstops in (yet, of course will be running them).
And also while Im here, what was your reasoning for going with the levin rear discs?? Same stud and easy to put on? And do they have a cable hand brake?
Cheers mate, I know its alot. :-)

Hey, the lower arm mod is to get away from the tiny standard tapered ball joint that will snap if pushed hard enough, a good friend of mine makes them up. No other mods required to fit. The caliper is held on with a custom made bracket (gold part in photo) will post a better angle, the caliper bolts to the bracket then the whole unit is bolted to the factory mounts. the rear calipers do come with cables for the handbrake making for easy fitting, the rotors are a bit more mork to fit, the axles are removed and machined to fit the rotors on the inside, the studs go through the axle and rotors, caliper held on with a bracket that bolts to the diff. I picked levin as rotors are cheep good range of pads of the shelf and the have the handbrake cable.

Awesome thanks mate. Alot of work gone into it im sure.. I know how that is.
So your lower arm mod doesnt improve travel at all, just gets around the tiny standard ball joint? How did you get your car so low? And do you have much travel in the front?

Hey west, i would have about 100mm of travel, do you have 50mm travel or 50mm clearance at the bump stop as I do, remember that the spring is only about half way between the pivot point and the wheel, 50mm movement there will be about 100mm at the wheel.

Hey mate, thanks for the feedback! Yea you are quite right about the pivot, didnt think about that to be honest, I have no (rubber) bumpstops in at the moment and have approx 50mm to metal on metal contact, so if a bumpstop was in place it would be close to, or already touching, just thinking about when I go for a cert etc, Im not sure what the minimum clearance is but Im thinking they wont be too happy with the lack of "room" in there...

Thats an awesome looking hatch I would like one with that kit etc as a road car The springs I have in my Gemini sit the car on the bumps so I pulled them out. If I hit a decent bump I'd say it would bottom but it hasn't happened yet. I'm gunna do all urethane bushes at some stage and I'm gunna look at cutting the cone that the stop plugs into down as long as nothing fouls with the extra travel of course. The one thing I think that will need doing is the steering arms and tie rod ends. Mine must be close to fouling because of the upward angle there on.

Fair bit of fabrication and parts juggling there What sort of price is your mate looking at for the ball joint conversion, when(!) I get this damned thing sorted, it'd be a good time to to it to some spare wishbones while doing the bushes? No hurry, as I'm sort of trying to hold onto funds as I may have located some goodies for the XE ;D Any chance of giving it a good look over some time, I'm sure Bulldog would also be very interested as he's doing a 2.3 single cam' build for club events and maybe some clubman races. You should also register on this, UK, site - if you haven't already. www.chevettes.com/forum/

Sorry to steal your thread dude.. haha Burntrubber: thats what I was thinking of doing if it camt ot it, I think it would need some mods to upper & lower arms to change ball joint angle etc, but Im trying to get around cutting that cone as my crossy is in and all painted... we will have to see, ive gotta find out the cert laws etc... Cheers boys!

Actually gordo I believe the same work is being done on mine by Tony Lynch as I believe Tony had a hand in Dannyboy's also?
From memory once you're running down that low he makes a mod to the front suspension to get around bump steer.
Hey Dannyboy, are those the 15x7s Tony is trying to get me to use? They look good! I was kinda hoping to run 13x8s but everyone is steering me away.
