From what ive heard, the megasquirt is a good, cheap alternative and should do the job well. have a look at www.diyautotune.com for more info

small update. picked up twin cam yesterday. its a bit grubby but i took off everything i dont need ie power steer/engine mounts/air con and it should clean up pretty well. had a squizz at the cams etc and looks all good. turns over prettty sweet too so hopefully will be a good runner. only done 150k k's so im pretty happy and only cost 230 bucks including freight and trailer hire. still not sure if wanna run efi or carbs. twin carbs might be cool if i can sort a manifold out and would keep with the old school theme. oh and bonus - the gearbox is already setup for clutch cable! one less thing to sort out lol nice shot of the gem ratrod spec lol g200 running quite well now with original nikki carb. weber needs to be rejetted before i can use it with this engine dirty little twin cam

Can use original dizzy so Carbs is easy option.. Have you joined up to the twincam forums yet? Some knowledgeable guys on there, even if I dont know what the hell a couple of them are on about sometimes ....
Best bet for manifold would be going into your local autobend, or laser/waterjet with some new inlet gaskets and getting them to cut them to suit.. (mine were $30 for pair from memory from 12mm steel laser cut - mates rate) I then supplied carb to copy exactly for the carb flange.. Manifold was then tig'd and milled.
By the time you've set up megasquirt it'll set you back more than the whole motor conversion... To be fair my carb setup costs more than my conversion, and I got two motors, two gearbox's and a zz/r diff... But my drivetrain was dirt cheap I mean dirt cheap!
Oh and talk to elky on oz gemini he may have another pair of extractors...
Bowdenautoparts - Chris is the guy you want to talk to, he got me all my gaskets dirt cheap. Easy as to deal with too. Could possibly get flanges cut again but not sure on cost and if he has my flanges on file still or not..
